About Kimberly
Kimberly Quinlan Bakker was born in San Francisco and raised in Ross in Marin County. She graduated with honors from Santa Catalina High School, then moved to Los Angeles, where she majored in Business at the University of Southern California. While at USC, Kimberly was also a volunteer teacher and served as the Women’s Advocate for the Panhellenic Board. She graduated in 1992 and was named one of that year’s Outstanding Seniors while working full time as the Director of Sales and Marketing for the L’ermitage Hotels. Kimberly worked in event production for major high-tech firms for several years. In 2000, she founded her own events management firm, Kimberly Bakker Events, with clients such as Sutter Hill Ventures, and several brands in the LVMH group including; Dom Perignon, Louis Vuitton and Moet & Chandon. In 2003 her firm was contracted to work on San Francisco’s most notable sailing regatta to date; The Moet Cup.
She brings over 15 years of experience as an event planner, fundraiser and PR account executive. In addition, she was a Founding Partner of the well-known Le Colonial restaurant and worked on its successful launch, resulting in over $5 million in revenue in the first year.
In 2005, Kimberly was appointed by Mayor Gavin Newsom to be the San Francisco Protocol Officer under Protocol Chief Charlotte Mailliard Shultz in the Mayor’s Office. In that position, she helped produce the week long civic celebration of World Environment Day, managed all consular affairs and often presented on behalf of the Mayor.
Kimberly served as Director of The San Francisco Fall Antiques Show in 2008, one of the top ten Antiques Show in the world. In this position she was responsible for several million dollars in patron and corporate sponsorship.
In addition to her full service consulting firm, she serves on the Board of Directors for Children of Shelters and Blue Star Music Camp, as well as on the committees for several San Francisco-based non-profit organizations that aid animals, homeless and youths, and is a member of the Society of California Pioneers.
Kimberly brings a unique skill set that includes experience in major event planning, public relations, business affairs, knowledge of the restaurant and entertainment industry, understanding the complexities of working with the San Francisco government, and personal connections to many of San Francisco’s most influential leaders in business and government.
